UN BALLO IN MASCHERA
THE OPENING MASKED GALA OF CARNIVAL
Inspired by Giuseppe Verdi's opera of the same name, Un Ballo in Maschera, this opening carnival event aims to recreate the atmosphere of the masquerade balls of the 1600s and
1700s. An elegant and entertaining masked dancing evening in the magnificent Salone del Ridotto, which during the 17th and 18th centuries hosted the Venice Carnival for six months
a year.
The event offers guests the chance to travel back in time, listen to baroque music, and most of all enjoy the company of others while learning the basic steps of period group dances under the guidance of our Dance Masters.
The event includes a welcome aperitif with finger-food and a seated four-course dinner, with fish-based main courses paired with regional wines. A meat or vegetarian menu is also available, and your preference can be indicated at the time of booking. Please note that menu changes will not be possible during the evening, and any allergies or dietary intolerances should be communicated in advance.
Doors open at 8:00 PM, and wearing a period costume is required. A coat check service will be provided, and an elevator is available for guests with mobility needs. The event is also suitable for families with children (suggested age: 8 and up).
Seating is limited and entry is guaranteed only upon ticket purchase.

Hotel Monaco
Dandolo Palace, Ridotto Main Hall
The palace of the noble Dandolo was the first place to accomodate the "Ridotto", public gaming rooms from 1638 till 1774. It used to be open during Carnival, which lasted several months, and during that time Giacomo Casanova considered the Ridotto as the stage setting and backdrop for his conquests.
